DirectShow Detective is a simple software which displays the version and file path of each DirectShow filter, video compressor, and audio compressor on your system. By looking at this information, you can find out whether a standard filter or codec has been installed or removed incorrectly.

It is meant for power users and tech support departments of video and audio software vendors, and it is completely free.
